This page explains what we collect when you read or contribute to sailingholidays.blog, why, and what you can do about it.
Who is responsible
The controller of your personal data is SAILORSBREEZE LTD, a company registered in the United Kingdom, operating from Gouvia marina, 49100, Corfu, Greece. Contact: contact@sailorsbreeze.com
Our representative in the European Union for the purposes of Article 27 of the GDPR is Potis Theofilakos, potis@corfuyachtcharter.com
Reading the site
You can read everything here without an account and without telling us who you are. Our server keeps standard access logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting, and we delete them after 30 days.
If you join the logbook
To contribute you need an account. We collect and keep:
- Your email address and the display name you choose.
- Anything you add to your profile: a one-line biography, a photograph, a home port.
- The stories and photographs you submit, published or not.
- Your points and tier, and the record of how you earned them.
We process this to run your account and publish what you write — in legal terms, to perform the agreement between us set out in the contributor terms. We keep it while your account is open. If you close it, see “Leaving” below.
What you publish is public: your display name, badge, story and photographs are visible to anyone, and search engines will index them. Your email address is never published.
Email we send you
We send two different kinds of email, and they are governed differently.
- Service email — your story was published, somebody replied, your password reset. These come with your account and you cannot opt out of them while it is open.
- The newsletter and reminders — new stories, and the occasional nudge if you joined and never posted. These go only to people who ticked the separate consent box, and we record when you ticked it. Every one carries an unsubscribe link, and withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.
Cookies and measurement
We set a cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell anything about you to anybody.
Who else sees your data
Our hosting provider stores the site and its database on our behalf. Our member platform stores accounts and submissions on our behalf. Each acts on our instructions under a data processing agreement, and neither uses your data for its own purposes. We do not share your data with charter companies, including our own.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to what we do with it, or to send it to you in a portable form. You can withdraw consent to marketing email at any time. Write to contact@sailorsbreeze.com and we will answer within one month.
If you think we have got this wrong you can complain to a supervisory authority: in Greece the Hellenic Data Protection Authority, in the United Kingdom the Information Commissioner’s Office, or the authority where you live.
Leaving
When you close your account we delete your account, profile and points record. For stories already published you choose: we withdraw them, or keep them with the byline changed to “a former member”. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis and anything deleted disappears from them within 90 days.
Children
This site is not intended for children, and accounts are for adults. If a child appears in a photograph you upload, you are confirming that whoever is responsible for them is content for it to be published.
